Homeopathic Remedies for Toothache

Plantago: Teeth ache and sensitive; caries and have increased salivation; swelling of cheeks along with toothache. Pain radiating from teeth to ears; can spread to eyes. 

Silicea: Toothache resulting from abscess of root of teeth. < in cold air and from taking cold water. Fever may accompany the toothache due to abscess.

Chamomilla: Patient turns irritable, mad and wild with severe tooth pain;  patient seems oversensitive to pain. < from warm drinks.

Staphysagria: Toothache when eating or drinking; decayed teeth or in sound teeth. Pain < cold drinks; excessive saliva, bleeding from gums may present.

Merc Sol: Toothache with excess saliva, offensive odour in mouth; Pain < both hot and cold food . Most of the times the crown of teeth is decayed while the root is perfectly sound. Bleeding from gums, looseness of teeth. Increased thirst for water may also be present.

COFFEE CRUDA: Toothache: intermittent, jerking, relieved by holding ice-water in the mouth, but returns when water becomes warm Bis., Bry., Puls., Caust., Sep., Nat. s.).

BISMUTH : Toothache > holding cold water in mouth. (Bry., Coff., Puls.).

CHAMOMILLA : Toothache if anything warm is taken into the mouth (Bis., Bry., Coff.); on entering a warm room; in bed; from coffee; during menses or pregnancy.

CINCHONA: toothache while nursing the child. Toothache; better pressing teeth firmly together, and by warmth.

KALI CARBONICUM: Toothache only when eating; throbbing; < when touched by anything warm or cold.

MAGNESIA CARBONICA: toothache, during pregnancy < at night.  Toothache, especially during pregnancy; worse at night; worse, cold and quiet. Teeth feel too long.

MAGNESIA MURATICA: Toothache; unbearable when food touches the teeth.

MAGNESIA PHOSPHORICA: Toothache: at night; rapidly shifting; < eating, drinking, especially cold things; > by heat (> by cold, Bry., Coff., Fer. p.).

MERCURIUS: Toothache: pulsating, tearing, lacerating, shooting into face or ears; < in damp weather or evening air, warmth of bed, from cold or warm things; > from rubbing the cheek.

MEZEREUM: Toothache: in carious teeth Kreos.); feel elongated, dull pain when biting on them and when touched with tongue, < at night; > with mouth open and drawing in air; roots decay (rev. or Mer.).

NATRUM SULPHURICUM: Toothache > by cold water, cool air (Coff., Puls.).

PULSATILLA : Toothache: relieved by holding cold water in the mouth (Bry., Coff.); worse from warm things and heat of room. Offensive odor from mouth (Merc; Aur). Food, especially bread, tastes bitter.

RATANHIA: Terrible toothache during early months of pregnancy; tooth feels elongated; < lying, compelling to rise and walk about.

RHODODENDRON: Toothache, every spring and fall during sharp east winds; worse from change of weather, thunderstorm, windy weather.

SPIGELIA: Toothache from tobacco smoking; > only on lying down and while eating Plan.); worse from cold air and water; returns from thinking about it.

STAPHISAGRIA: Toothache: during menses; sound as well as decayed teeth; painful to touch of food or drink; but not from biting or chewing; < drawing cold air into mouth; < from cold drinks and after eating. Teeth turn black, show dark streaks through them; cannot be kept clean; crumble; decay on edges (at the roots, Mez., Thuja); scorbutic cachexia.

TABACUM: Clem., or Plant., for tobacco toothache. 

THERIDION CURASSAVICUM : Toothache: every shrill sound penetrates the teeth. 

THUJA OCCIDENTALIS: Toothache from tea drinking. “On blowing the nose a pressing pain in the hollow tooth or at the side of it (Culex).” – Boenninghausen.

Silicea and Hepar Sulph: Toothache due to root abscess

Silicea- Toothache because of root abscess with swelling of gums.  , is the preferred Homeopathic remedy.

Hepar Sulph- Toothache fever with chills is present along with pain and swelling.

Staphysagria and Merc Sol: pain in decayed teeth

Staphysagria-  pain < the moment any food or drink touches it.

Merc Sol- both cold and hot food worsen the pain in decayed teeth. Increased saliva and offensive odour from mouth. 

Plantago: Toothache where hollow cavities appear in the affected teeth.

Plantago, Spigelia and Magnesium Phos: pain extended from teeth to ear or face

Plantago-pain in teeth that extends to ear. is the appropriate remedy.

Magnesium Phos-neuralgic pain in face on right side due to toothache. 

Spigelia-nerve pain extending from teeth to left side of face. 

Hecla Lava: Toothache with swelling around jaw.

Arnica and Hypericum : Toothache after extraction.

Arnica and Hypericum: Toothache that occurs after filling of teeth.

Arnica- act as an accurate pain relieving medicine that occurs after filling of teeth.

Hypericum- for nerve pain that occurs after filling of teeth. 

Chamomilla and Coffea: hot food sensitivity

Chamomilla- sensitive to hot food and drinks worsen the condition.

Coffea- cold water provides relief in toothache. 

Hepar Sulph and Magnesium Phos:  cold food sensitivity

Hepar Sulph – pain worsens from cold drinks or food. 

Magnesium Phos- warm drinks bring relief from toothache.
